Felice Tiene displayed a very good shape in Zuera (Spain) during the second round of the European Championship, while, in Italy, Jordon Lennox-Lamb confirmed to be a protagonist in DD2 at Castelletto di Branduzzo's round of the Rotax Euro Challenge.

Felice Tiene had a solid qualifying in Spain, as he set the third time of his group (sixth absolute) in the second round of the European KF Championship, while Jordon Lennox-Lamb has posted the quickest time of his group (fourth absolute) in DD2 qualifying of the Rotax Euro Challenge underway in Castelletto di Branduzzo (Italy).
.

STUNNING START FOR TIENE IN ZUERA

Felice Tiene put in a very good performance in KF at the CIK-FIA European Championship clocking the third time of his group at just 73 thousands of a second from the pace setter Callum Ilott (Zanardi) and at slightly more than 2 tenths to the absolute quickest time. This has been a good start for the Italian driver in force at CRG who was also the quickest on a TM engine.

The other CRG drivers are currently a bit more delayed: Pedro Hiltbrand posted a time 0.538 shy of the leader, Sidney Gomez ended at 0.717s to the top and Dionisios Marcu at 0.809.

CRG-2013.jpg

The Greek Konstantinos has been the quickest of CRG drivers in KF Junior. He is always getting more and more at ease in this category after his past in 60 Mini. His quickest lap turned out to be 0.516s slower than that posted by the leader Devlin Defrancesco (Tony Kart). The Spaniard Eliseo Martinez experienced some issues instead and ended at 0.882s to the leader at his home race. The young Briton Archie Tillett currently is 1.126s adrift.

The programme of Zuera's weekend will continue on Saturday 31 May with qualifying heats, while the Repechage race, Prefinal and Final will take place on Sunday 1 June.

LENNOX AIMING HIGH IN CASTELLETTO

Jordon Lennox-Lamb set the pace in his qualifying group in DD2 on the Circuit 7 Laghi of Castelletto di Branduzzo, that is housing the second round of the Rotax Euro Challenge. The British driver of CRG – already winner of the first round in Genk – ended up fourth absolute in the final qualifying classification, as his quickest time was only 61 thousands shy of the overall best lap posted by Paolo De Conto.

Very good performance also for the German Luka Kamali in DD2, who was only 0.266s shy of the leader, while the American Daniel Formal is a bit delayed at the moment with a quickest time 0.485s slower than that of the leader. Alessandro Bizzotto closed his qualifying effort at 0.750s to the top.

Very positive performance for the Polish driver Lukasz Bartoszuk in Rotax Senior, who set a time that was 0.422s shy of the leader Guan Yu Zhou. Some problems affected instead the strong Yannick De Brabander as he is currently 0.616s adrift.

Jose Enrique Brito put in an excellent qualifying in Rotax Junior setting the seventh time at 0.269s to the top.

The programme of Saturday 31 May in Castelletto di Branduzzo schedules qualifying heats, while Repechage races, Prefinals and Finals will take place on Sunday 1 June.

Team Gamoto on CRG has been protagonist of the opening race of the Italian Championship finishing on the podium of 60 Mini with Hauger and Muizzuddin. Pedro Hiltbrand has been defending CRG colors in KZ2 and Sidney Gomez in KF2.

La Conca (Lecce, Italy). Good season debut for CRG in the Italian Karting Championship thanks to Team Gamoto that has been a great protagonist of 60 Mini with its very young champions as Dannis Hauger won the first Final, while Hauger and Muizzuddin Mussyaffa Abdul Gafar got on Final-2's podium. Solid races also for Pedro Hiltbrand in KZ2 and Sidney Gomez in KF2.

SPECTACULAR HAUGER AND MUIZZUDDIN IN 60 MINI

The races the Italian Championship, class 60 Mini, have definitely been exciting. 52 drivers made it to the start as Team Gamoto and its very young champions on CRG-LKE have come to the fore. The Norwegian driver Dennis Hager has been very quick since the beginning setting the pole position pipping his team mate Muizzuddin Mussyaffa Abdul Gafar by just 67 thousands. Very good qualifying also for the new-comer Leonardo Marseglia, who set the fourth time being 0.155s shy of the pace setter.

Dennis Hauger came out of heats still on top of the charts thanks to two wins. The Norwegian driver kept his momentum in the first of the two heats that was inflamed by a spectacular duel with his rival Abrusci. The sprint to the line was eventually won by Hauger by only 13 thousands of a second! Meanwhile, Muizzuddin had been slowed down a bit by some contacts but ended fifth anyway, while Marseglia crossed the finish line in 15th.

CRG-2013.jpg

The second Final had Team Gamoto's pairing as protagonist again with Hauger and Muizzuddin among the quickest both closing their efforts on the podium. Hauger ended in fact in second place just 65 thousands shy of Skeed, while Muizzuddin was third at 8 tenths. This has been a very good result for these two front runners. Marseglia ended 14th instead.
Dennis Hauger is currently leading the charts with 62 points, while Muizzuddin is standing third at 34.

CRG-2013.jpg

HILTBRAND STRONG IN KZ2, GOMEZ IN KF2

The Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand on CRG-TM showed a good competitiveness too in KZ2, as he has always been among the best out of the 49 drivers on track in this season opener. After setting the 10th place in qualifying, Hiltbrand clinched two very good fifth places in race-1 and race-2. Hiltbrand is currently fifth in the standings.

CRG-2013.jpg

The Venezuelan driver Sidney Gomez, on CRG-TM, had an interesting debut in the Italian Championship that started with a good P4 in qualifying. In Final one Gomez was unfortunately slowed down a bit, but still crossed the line in sixth place. In the second Final he was initially delayed by an electric problem at the start but then the Venezuelan driver managed to come back to a good fifth place. Gomez is sixth in the classification.

The next round of the Italian Championship is scheduled for June 22nd at the International Circuit Napoli of Sarno.

Great race for Felice Tiene who recovered in KF Final from P25 to the fourth place. Very good race for Pedro Hiltbrand too, always among the best and eventually good fifth. Solid debut for Eliseo Martinez in KF Junior, despite being stopped by an incident.

La Conca (Lecce, Italy). Only the podium is missing to set in stone the very good result obtained by CRG in the first weekend of the European CIK-FIA KF & KF Junior Championship, held at the International Circuit La Conca of Muro Leccese. Felice Tiene and Pedro Hiltbrand secured important points for the classification and Eliseo Martinez turned out to be a protagonist in KF Junior.
.

The KF Final has been absolutely spectacular and it involved Felice Tiene and the Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand, both putting in a stunning final stage on their CRG-TM. Hiltbrand has had a constant pace always being among the front runners, while Tiene had a weekend in crescendo completing a comeback final race from the 25th place of the grid up to the fourth place. This performance demonstration displayed by CRG envisages a good remainder of the season for the Italian team, that is the current reigning champion thanks to the title won last year by Max Verstappen.

CRG-2013.jpg

SUPER TIENE IN KF

The pace shown in La Conca's Final could have awarded Tiene with the podium (perhaps even with the top step of the podium) if it were not for a violent bumping he has been involved in at the first corner of the Prefinal. The Italian driver rejoined as last and later on managed to recover up to the 25th place of the Prefinal, but then he put in a stunning comeback race in the Final. Very good race also for Hiltbrand, who has been quick since qualifying (best in his session) and heats (third), establishing himself among the front runners (he was third in the Prefinal) to end fifth later on in the Final, behind Tiene.

CRG-2013.jpg

Bad luck hit Dionisios Marcu instead, who was forced to the retirement due to a technical problem during the first lap of the Final, after he won the repechage recovering up to the 19th place in the Prefinal.

Even tougher luck for Sidney Gomez, who has seen his weekend being compromised in qualifying due to the engine failure. He displayed all his quality in the repechage though, where he managed to secure the fifth place despite starting 17th on the grid! A 10 seconds penalty due to a problem at the start stripped him from the satisfaction of running the final stages.

The victory in the first round of the European KF Championship went to the Briton Callum Ilott (Zanardi-Parilla).

CRG-2013.jpg

GOOD DEBUT FOR MARTINEZ IN KF JUNIOR

The young Eliseo Martinez Merono has been the most productive and quick driver in KF Junior, even if he would have deserved much more in his debut race of the European Championship. Unfortunately, he has been forced to the retirement at lap one of the Final when at the first hairpin he was involved in the heat of the start. That was a real shame as Martinez could have easily secured a good final result building on his sixth place of the Prefinal.

A brilliant Archie Tillett managed also to secure a place in the Final, ending his race in P21. Several problems affected the other two youngsters in force at CRG instead: the Venezuelan Mauricio Baiz and the Greek driver Konstantinos. Baiz missed out on the final by just a whisker as he ended seventh in the Repechage after recovering from the 19th place on the grid, while Konstantinos has been delayed by several contacts in the “hot” stages of the repechage race after running a good qualifying stage.

The KF Junior Final was won by Enaam Ahmed (FA Kart-Vortex).

CRG-2013.jpg

SUNDAY QUOTES

Euan Jeffery, CRG team manager: “We are happy on this European Championship opener. We showed good competitiveness both in KF and KF Junior. Felice Tiene run an extraordinary race in KF completing an incredible comeback. He has been perfect and very precise in all the overtaking moves. Pedro Hiltbrand completed a good race too, he has been excellent from lights to flag and made it into the top five. We made a good show of the quality of our material and of our drivers, therefore we can aim to good results in this season too. I am sorry for Dionisios Marcu as he had a problem at the first lap in the Final, and for Sidney Gomez who could not make it to the Final due to a penalty in the repechage. In KF Junior we had a good progression of results improving all our
material. We still miss something and we are working to improve it, but I am quite positive for the future. All our drivers have been competitive. What a shame for Eliseo Martinez, he could not get what he deserved in the Final due to an incident right after the start.”

Felice Tiene: “What a shame for the contact I was involved in the Prefinal, but I am very satisfied on the fourth place obtained in the Final. My objective was to score some points in this race and I did exactly that. We still have a few things to sort out but, after qualifying, we constantly improved in the heats and I had very good material for the final stages, with a better performance of chassis and engine. This result gives me a lot of confidence for the remainder of the championship.”

Pedro Hiltbrand: “I am happy on my fifth place. I made a small mistake exiting from a fast corner at the last lap and Felice overtook me, but I still am OK with fifth. What is important is the good speed I had. The championship is long and I will counter-charge in the next round that is going to be my home race in Zuera (Spain).”

CRG-2013.jpg

The two CRG's works drivers earned the fourth and fifth place at the end of a spectacular Final. Eliseo Martinez forced to the retirement due to an incident in KF Junior.

Despite an incident at the start of the Prefinal, Felice Tiene put in a spectacular comeback in the Final and from P25 he managed to cross the finish line in fourth position, right ahead of his team mate Pedro Hiltbrand, how in turn completed a great race.
.

Dionisios Marcu had to stop due to a technical problem instead.

Eliseo Martinez has been unlucky in the KF Junior's Final as he was forced to the retirement due to an incident during the first lap. Archie Tillett ended his effort in 26th position instead.

Sidney Gomez did not manage to gain access to the KF Final due to a penalty in the Repechage race; the Venezuelan driver Mauricio Baiz and the Greek Konstantinos did not have much better luck as they could not get access to the KF Junior Final either.

CRG-2013.jpg

Pedro Hiltbrand and Felice Tiene earned a very good position for the final stages of the first round of the European CIK-FIA Championship in KF underway at La Conca. Both will have good chances to score a good result. Eliseo Martinez is the best in KF Junior.

Solid start for CRG in La Conca's first round of the European CIK-FIA KF and KF Junior Championship. Several good performances in a crescendo from practice to qualifying heats make CRG's works team -- reigning champion in KF following the 2013 title won by Max Verstappen -- quite positive for the remainder of the weekend.
.

CRG works team fielded 4 drivers in KF and 4 in KF Junior and turned out to be competitive and ready to slide in among the main interpreters of the European series, especially in KF where Felice Tiene and Pedro Hiltbrand already showed the pace necessary to fight for the victory, while Dionisios Marcu and Sidney Gomez have been a bit more unlucky so far.

Life is going to be a bit more complicated for the youngsters racing in KF Junior, as Eliseo Martinez, Mauricio Baiz, Konstantinos and Archie Tillett are committed to emerge in this quite lively category. The season debut has been positive in a weekend characterized so far by a crescendo of results and a constant improvement, despite a few incidents slowing down some of the team's works drivers.

CRG-2013.jpg

HILTBRAND AND TIENE VERY QUICK IN KF

In KF the Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand and Felice Tiene confirmed to be very quick and put in very fast lap times in qualifying and are respectively in third and sixth absolute place after the heats, which gives them quite good chances for the final stages to be held on Sunday. The Romanian driver Dionisios Marcu and the Venezuelan Sidney Gomez will have to run the repechage race instead, as the first experienced some technical inconveniences and the latter was involved in a racing incident in the heats.

CRG-2013.jpg

MARTINEZ THE BEST IN KF JUNIOR

The Spaniard Eliseo Martinez has been the quickest of the CRG lot in KF Junior, as he currently stands fourth absolute at the end of the heats. He could have obtained an even better place if he were not involved in some contacts with rivals in his final heat. The Briton Archie Tillett also earned access to the final. The Venezuelan Mauricio Baiz and the Greek Konstantinos will have to run the repechage race instead.

CRG works team will head to La Conca for the start of CIK-FIA 2014 season as the reigning European KF Champion, strong with the title won in 2013 with Max Verstappen. CRG will field Tiene, Hiltbrand, Marcu and Gomez in KF, while Baiz, Martinez, Konstantinos and Tillett will be competing in KF Junior. The European 2014 Championship will comprise 5 rounds.

The weekend of 11 May 2014 will open the season of CIK-FIA International Championships. The first round is scheduled at Muro Leccese as the protagonists of the European KF & KF Junior will get on track at the International Circuit La Conca, the same venue where the WSK Super Master Series ended at the end of April with a very good result for CRG works team mainly with Felice Tiene, second in the KF Final.
.

CRG DRIVERS IN LA CONCA

CRG will head to La Conca with very good chances both in KF and KF Junior. The works team will line up, alongside Felice Tiene, the Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand, the Romanian driver Dionisios Marcu and the Venezuelan Sidney Gomez in KF. In KF Junior the new entry Mauricio Baiz, the Spanish driver Eliseo Martinez, the Greek “Konstantinos” and the Briton Archie Tillett will weave high the CRG's flag instead.

CRG-2013.jpg

CRG KF TITLE HOLDER

The new title campaign will be an interesting challenge also from the technical side as CRG will try to confirm the quality of its chassis that last year won the European KF Championship with Max Verstappen. CRG will be using TM engines prepared by KF 2013 title winner GFR and by Galiffa both in KF and KF Junior.

THE 5 ROUNDS

The European KF and KF Junior Championships will be battled out in five rounds this year. Following La Conca opener, the second round will take place on June 1st for both categories in Zuera (Spain). On June 15 KF will be on track at Genk in Belgium, while KF Junior will resume from Sweden in Kristianstad on July 27. The two categories will get together again for the fourth round scheduled for 31 August in England at the Circuit PF International of Brandon, while the fifth and final round of both title campaigns will be held in Essay (France) next 21 September.

CRG-2013.jpg

A RICH SHOWCASE FOR CRG

CRG is strong with a particularly rich list of European KF and KF Junior Championships won, starting from last year's one secured by Max Verstappen in KF. In the previous years category names were different but technically equivalent to nowadays' and CRG secured the KF title with Nolè (2006), Bocchi (2003), Thonon (2002), Hamilton (2000), Pocelet and Campanico (1998), Pantano (1996 and 1995), Beggio (1992), Zanardi and Schumacher (1987) and Muller (1996). In Junior CRG won the European titles with Buemi (2002), Surrales (1991) and Malandrucco (1989).

Positive closure of WSK Super Master Series for CRG, as Felice Tiene gained a very good second place in KF, Davide Forè a third in KZ2 and Muizzuddin another third place in 60 Mini, that awarded the very young driver of team Gamoto with the second place in the championship. Mauricio Baiz fourth in KF Junior.

The stop in Muro Leccese at La Conca for the third and last round of the WSK Super Master Series turned out to be a particularly interesting round for CRG's colors. A constant presence on the podium highlighted the drivers performance, starting from Felice Tiene who secured a great second place in KF that allows to be hopeful ahead of the forthcoming international CIK-FIA races.

EXCELLENT SECOND PLACE FOR FELICE TIENE IN KF

Felice Tiene has been a brilliant interpreter of the final racing day at La Conca, as he produced a flawless KF weekend on his CRG kart powered TM by GFR. He ended his efforts with a good second place behind Ilott Callum on Zanardi. Tiene slided in top positions since qualifying and came out of heats in fourth place, result followed by the fifth in his Prefinal. He then improved the chassis and engine setup ahead of the Final, where he put in a stunning comeback race that saw Tiene ending in an excellent second position. He gained this place very early on, taking easily all his direct rivals, exception made for Ilott.

Very good sixth position for the Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand, who confirms to be among the best of this category in this race too. Some problems affected the Romanian driver Dionisios Marcu instead – who suffered an inconvenience to a tire – but in the Final he put in a comeback from the back of the grid to P20.

The Venezuelan driver Sidney Gomez was unfortunately involved in an incident at the start of his Prefinal and therefore could not gain access to the Final.

FORE’ ON THE PODIUM IN KZ2

CRG's flag has been waved by Davide Forè, who has been racing in KZ2 with team DTK. As hoped for, the Italian driver promptly recovered from the two previous races in WSK Super Master and came back among the best of his category, securing a podium finish with a truly deserved third place that can be seen as a good premise to the international CIK-FIA season. Forè was sixth in the Prefinal and in the Final he quickly gained several positions and installed himself in third place behind Ardigò and Thonon, keeping it all the way until the flag. Forè will be heading to Dallas, United States, for an extra race with CRG USA in the first round of the “triptyque” of the “Pro Tour” series scheduled for next 4 May.

BAIZ FOURTH IN KFJ'S CLASSIFICATION

Not much of luck for CRG in KF Junior. The former classification leader, the Venezuelan Mauricio Baiz, was at the debut with CRG's works team and did struggle a bit to find the right setup, but managed to recover in the Prefinal and Final from an unlucky incident he was involved in one heat. He gained P17 but was penalized in the final race due to an wrong maneuver. Baiz ended fourth in the championship, behind Ahmed (winner of the Final), Ticktum and Leonardo Lorandi.

The Spanish driver of CRG Eliseo Martinez also experienced some difficulties. In the Final he had to contempt himself with P18 after being 10th in the Prefinal and in a promising 16th after the heats.

The young Briton Archie Tillett failed to gain access to the Final due to the retirement at the first lap of his Prefinal, but he displayed a good competitiveness throughout the weekend on his CRG chassis pushed by TM engine by Galiffa Team.

MUIZZUDDIN SECOND IN THE 60 MINI'S CHARTS

CRG's colors have also been protagonists in 60 Mini where team Gamoto and the Malaysian driver Muizzuddin Abdul Gafar tried to get the title until the end, following the good results harvested in the previous race of Castelletto. In La Conca, Muizzuddin, on CRG/Hero powered by LKE, fought for top positions but at the end he crossed the Final's line in third behind Abrusci and Fusco. This result was worth a splendid second place in the championship though.

SUNDAY QUOTES

Felice Tiene (KF): “I put in quite a nice recovery in the Final, which was worth the second place. I had a crescendo of results but I still missed some speed to fight for the victory. In the next days we will have to work to fill that small gap that did not allow me to aim to the victory. This is our objective, but I come home from La Conca quite hopeful ahead of the forthcoming round of the European CIK-FIA Championship that will take place on this very same track next 11 May.”

Davide Forè (KZ2): “I am happy on my third place. I still missed a bit of speed to catch the first two but I am happy as I improved the performance of the first two races. We did a crucial step forward to aim to the victory. It has been a tough work but we have done it. We will shortly start to focus on the European championship but for now I just want to enjoy this podium. I'd like to thank my mechanic, TM and the whole team for this good result.”
